Left at the start

There are many ways a horse can find to lose a race. One is to blow the start and that's exactly what KW did today. Jockey Jay Ford reported that he was very toey in the barriers and when the gates opened he went up more than forward and got left badly. Jay said that if he had jumped well he would have certainly been the likely winner.

His effort to work home for fifth from the tail of the field was very good in the circumstances.
Perhaps a slightly longer race on a bigger track with a longer straight will suit him better for his second start this preparation.

Stewards Comment: "Slow to begin (2L). App the 700m had to be steadied when crowded. For some distance in the middle stages had to be restrained when awkwardly placed close to heels and was unable to improve."
