In the money

Invincible Spirit progeny are having a good run of late in Australia. The last month has seen 19 starters in 29 races record 8 wins, 4 seconds and a third. Of the 29 starts, 22 were first five finishes.

About the Name

"Khamsin" is Arabic for "fifty" and is the name given to the hot, strong, violent winds that sweep across the Sahara Desert from Libya and Egypt for about 50 days each year.

In 'Khamsin' by Clinton Scollard he says about the wind,

'It blasted the buds on the almond bough,
And shrivelled the fruit on the orange tree'
'The tiny fledgling died in the nest;
The sick babe gasped at the mother's breast.
Then a rumour rose and swelled and spread
From a tremulous whisper, faint and vague,
Till it burst in a terrible cry of dread,
The plague, the plague, the plague.
