New Career

Khamsin Warrior commenced his new country-based career for new owners and trainer Lewis Seib with a creditable 7th, coming from near last at the turn, at Scone yesterday.

Ridden by Teresa Nikora KW settled at the back of the field and was disappointed for a run upon entering the straight. His inside barrier meant he had a horse on his outside at the turn which meant he was forced to look for a run inside which didn't come.

The winner looks a very good horse over a sprint journey and won in fast time.

KW will be fitter for the run and will be looking for 1400-1600m after a few more runs.

NEW HOME

After a long rest KW has been sold to new owners in Muswellbrook/Scone. We are confident KW will win races for them and we wish the new owners all the best.

What a Shocker/ All Forgiven

Despite starting a hot favourite, having good previous form on the Heavy, working the house down on the training track and looking the winner at the turn, Khamsin Warrior could only manage a plodding fourth at Warwick Farm last Wed.

Hope springs eternal in the owner's breast however and we are confident that on a better surface this Saturday at Kembla Grange, he can show a dramatic improvement and be far more competitive in a BM70 race over 1600m.

He has two wins from two starts on the track so we have reason to expect better than last weeks inexplicable performance.

Will the real KW please stand up?

After his disappointing Canberra effort and an minor setback due to an infected leg, KW has returned to his best form with a fine third yesterday at Newcastle. An excellent ride from Hugh Bowman saw him hit the lead in the straight before his condition just gave out with 100m to go. Still he fought on gamely to finish only a neck from the winner and will be much improved for the run.

All Better Now

KW has fully recovered from his infected leg and will start over 1500m in a Class 2 race at Newcastle tomorrow. His trackwork has been good and he is expected to run well.

Best laid plans and all that

Just when KW found and easy race at Kembla it was discovered that he had developed filling in one leg. There was a chance of an injury to a joint but the vet rightly diagnosed an infection. Treatment with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories has seen the infection clear and he is back in full work.
He will probably trial before racing again.

Hawkesbury or Kembla Instead

Gerald says KW will race at Hawkesbury next Thursday or Kembla next Saturday rather than Warwick Farm today due to the state of the track.

Change of Plans

KW will not start today at Kembla. Instead he will go around in a 1300m BM75 race at Warwick Farm next Wednesday.

Chance to Atone

KW gets a chance to redeem himself for his poor (10th) showing at Canberra last week in a Class 2 race over 1500m at Kembla this Sunday.
We are putting last week's uncharacteristic run down to "second up syndrome" and hope that third up he can recapture some old form.
He's two wins from two starts at the track and the sprinkle of rain this week will take the sting out of the track making it much like the surface for his memorable first win there.
